Default Hero formation

When fighting against loads of aoe, it's important to me to spread my heroes constantly. But it's annoying to keep doing this entire elite mission.

So wouldn't it be great to have a hero formation button next to the ordinary flag. You just plant a flag in the shape of your current hero formation or a previously saved formation. This would save a lot of time and stress.

How do you all think about it? any of you experienced the same problem?

yh, think its a good idea, problem i ran into is that when you flag, your melee heroes come all the way back, obvious, but would be nice to lets say have more abbility's so only flagging casters, etc..

I would rather have something like in Age of empires 2 (or is it mythology....) where they have other formations, such as lines, spread out, condensed, etc etc.

but this is good too.

You mean like a "Formation Memory Button"? Would have been great.

1. Set your hero/hench flags and "save" with a button.
2. Recall formation anytime with a different button placing them exact distance as original flags, all at once.

actually this would be a really good idea, like the charr formation.
i still wonder why anet didn't implement it in heroes or in hard mode yet.

Not signed for a multitude of reasons.

1. Guildwars Is already too easy as it is. We have 2 difficulties. Play while sleeping mode(normal) and Play while half asleep mode (Hard Mode). Why make the game easier than it already is.
2. You said save time and stress. 1. You playing guildwars to waste time are you not? 2. If guildwars stresses you out find a new game.
3. Keep your hero/s on defend not attack(they move out of aoe and kite)
4. Kill them before they cast any spell (very easy to do in hm)
5. Hero battles will become even more of a joke then it already is. Yes imma save a differnt formation for every map. So that all i have to do is hit the button in game and my heroes go where they are told with out me putting a flag out at all.

My Final 2 Cents. LEARN HOW TO MICRO MORE EFFICIENTLY

It'd be nice I guess. Doesn't even have to be fancy, just stand a bit further apart so aoe doesn't kill them all in one easy hit.

Personally I'd rather they fix heroes being able to avoid aoe like monsters can though. Or fixing an option to switch kiting on and off. At least if you could control whether heroes kite or not opens up them either dodging aoe or not kiting and staying in wards and melee heroes not running like idiots when they are taking like single digit damage yet it panics them so much they flee in terror.

Missmelady already pointed out several of the big reasons.
Another flaw with this plan is what would happen if you hit this formation button in a location that was a narrow hallway or or other odd terrain issues (or just, using it near a wall). Heroes would get stuck repeatedly running in walls trying to reach spots they can't get to.

1: thats just the way the game works, same way as they screw up with titles like party and sweet, cost me 3.5kk and 2 years of searching to get it, and now its everywhere...
2.I'm not playing gw to waste time, its just boring to set them away every time not how i'd like to spend my holidays. And i didn't say anything about stress?
3. I never have my heroes in "fight", so this doesn't really work. Thereby, some bosses do so much dmg its too late to flee.
4. This is a worthless argument, you are no god, so isnt the rest of the gw players. And there are still big groups around which even you can't kill before the cast anything
5. Just block it in hero battles, i don't care

that's not a flaw, you can plant your flag in a wall right now, it's actualy more positive since it makes the option less perfect

If Charr can do that when you attack them, our H/H should be able to do so too.

Charr are the best example of formations in the game. And they don't do that. If they can't get to a place, they just assume the next 'spot' on the formation or stay where they are, and begin to attack.

That is, they behave like if they had a timer for formation, like that game with chairs and the music stopping. Once the time to form passes, they start attacking where they are.

Charr can do it because they are always the same professions/groups/builds. They can "form up" just like our heroes and hench already do (remember, they added a build back during factions that make heroes move in a square box formation with frontliners in front and rear line professions in back, it was added the same time h/h quotes and dancing when your character /dances was added, they used to just be arranged in the order they were on the party window in kinda a weird ball shape). This already happened.... in a way.

The problem I have with this suggestion is that just about every area in the game has weird terrain issues, especially with professions that need line of sight. I don't want my ranger h/h to be told to move somewhere, be out of line of sight, and then be too stupid to move back. I just don't think it would even work properly 50% of the time. Not a lot of areas in this game are wide open flat plains (although there are quite a few of those).

But i would rather the heroes STAY PUT if you flag them and set to avoid.
I get sick of them running in to heal or attack when I have flagged WAY back.

just give them some sense of battlefield awareness. they should learn when they are allowed to stay in an aoe effect and when they can't. especially frontliners or heroes with a high armor level shouldn't care about aoe so much. i often see my warrior h/hs run around when hit multiple times by ignite arrows or fire storm and breaking aggro, while my midline or backline stand mostly still and die quickly (in hm).

i don't sign hero formations but an ai which is capable of recognising important facts and situations.
